Data Loss Paranoia

I have data loss paranoia. Yesterday I have installed S.M.A.R.T. monitoring daemon on my PC, but, do not believe much in it. So, now thinking about buying two hard disks in order to make at least a simple RAID with them. Also, I really need to buy UPS at least for the system to shut down properly, cause I do not much believe in journaling file systems too. And of cause I should regularly backup critical data on DVD. I did just a few times, better is to make it on some regular basis.

Here my paranoia comes. When I had a small HDD, I was not so paranoid. The data was easy to back up. But it is much harder for a huge amount of data. Sure, it is possible to live without a lot of my data, that means I will not die if I lose it, but, it took time to collect those and I definitely do not wanna to lose anything at all.

Do you face the same problem and deal with it somehow?
